Driver leads police on high-speed chase

9/2/2013 | HOUSTON (KTRK) | By Sonia Azad — A man is in jail for leading authorities on a chase lasting at least 45 minutes and spanning about 60 miles early this morning.

That pursuit started around 1:30am on Wood Road in Willis and finally ended on Cullen and Beltway 8 in southeast Houston.

This all started as a routine traffic stop in the Willis area. The driver refused to stop and instead went full speed ahead south on I-45 into Harris County with officers on his tail.

At times, police say suspect drove as fast as 105 miles per hour. We understand the suspect is wanted in Dallas on a parole violation, as he told that the 911 dispatcher during the chase. He’s also a wanted felon in Montgomery County.

Authorities say a 911 dispatcher was on the phone with the driver the entire time that this chase went on, eventually convincing him to pull over.

The suspect is in custody in Montgomery County. There is no official word on the charges against him.
