A man wielding a gun in each hand was shot Wednesday by an off-duty Houston police officer outside a south Houston nightclub, authorities said.

The man, 25, was in fair condition at Ben Taub Hospital. He was shot once in the buttocks.

After working extra jobs at the Boomerang Club, 4530 Holmes, Officers David M. Boling and David A. Dunning heard gunfire on the parking lot about 2 a.m. Investigators said Boling and Dunning responded and found a man holding two pistols. Boling said he saw a muzzle flash coming from one, possibly both, of the man's guns so he fired several times, hitting him.
