Police: Fatal Shooting Was an Accident

HOUSTON - A car burglary suspect was fatally shot when an officer’s weapon accidentally discharged, according to the Humble Police Department .

When, Where?

Police responded to burglary-in-progress call at Deerbrook Mall in the 2100 block of Highway 59 around 11:59 a.m. on Monday. Officers saw one of the suspects get out of a victim’s car into an alleged getaway vehicle.

How?

Officers approached the vehicle with their weapons drawn. An officer was attempting to break in the window of the vehicle when his weapon fired and fatally struck the suspect.

Another suspect was inside of the vehicle at the time of the shooting and is now in police custody. The getaway vehicle was reported stolen.
