Police: Houston police officer involved in Arlington fatal shooting

HOUSTON -- An investigation is under way after a Houston police officer was involved Monday in a fatal shooting in an Arlington neighborhood, police said.
Police said the shooting happened at about 6:30 p.m. in south Arlington near Interstate 20 and Matlock.\line\line Investigators said the incident began as reports of multiple fights and the unidentified Houston police officer, who was inside a house nearby came out to try to stop the commotion. He ended up firing his weapon in the process, police said.
The 18-year-old person who was injured was transported to Arlington Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The officer is a 15-year veteran who works in the northeast patrol division, a Houston Police Department spokesperson said.
