Off-duty HPD officer fatally shoots teen in North Texas

An off-duty Houston police officer fatally shot a man this evening outside a home in the North Texas city of Arlington, HPD officials confirmed.

The officer shot an 18-year-old about 6:30 p.m. during an altercation outside a home in the city between Fort Worth and Dallas, officials said.

Clevontae Reynolds was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Arlington Police said. The HPD officer was not injured, officials said.

Further details were not immediately available.

Arlington police are now investigating the fatal shooting, officials said.

The HPD officer is a 15-year veteran assigned to the department's northeast patrol division, officials said.
