HOUSTON – An officer-involved shooting near the Heights landed one man in the hospital Saturday night.

It happened near the intersection of Washington and Thompson around 3:00 a.m.

Police said an HPD unit responded to a shooting in progress at a night club on Washington. When the officer arrived, witnesses pointed to three men walking down Thompson near Washington.

Authorities said when the officer pulled up, two of the suspects stopped but a third ran behind a nearby house. The officer gave several commands for the man to come out, and fearing he had a gun, shot the suspect in the shoulder. Police later found a gun hidden in the bushes where the suspect ran.

He was transported to Ben Taub in stable condition.
