Sheriff's Office: Cop shoots suspect who tried to run him over

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An off-duty Houston police officer shot at a suspect who allegedly tried to run over the officer in west Houston, says the Harris Sheriff's Office.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the off-duty HPD officer saw a suspect breaking into an vehicle at a complex in the 15000 block of Westpark Drive, east of Addicks Clodine. The officer shot at the suspect and hit him in the arm and leg. The suspect took off in the stolen vehicle, but decided he might need to go to a hospital.

The suspect drove to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, was treated and is being taken into custody.

The officer was not injured.
