Young man shot by sheriff's deputy dies

A sheriff's deputy is on desk duty this morning after shooting and killing a man in east Harris County.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A young man who was shot by a sheriff's deputy at an east Harris County home has died from his wound.

The man died at Ben Taub Hospital a few hours after the shooting at a home on Castle Glen. The sheriff's office had received a call that the 20-year-old was threatening other family members in the home.

The deputy who answered the call says the man confronted him with a steel pipe. When the man moved toward the deputy and refused to drop the pipe, the deputy fired one shot. The victim's name has not been released.
