•Raw: Suspected burglars caught at car audio business

HOUSTON—It was a busy morning for police in north Houston early Friday after witnessing a road rage and a burglary in progress, then opening fire on two of five suspects who refused to give up.

Two Houston police officers were traveling northbound on the North Freeway service road when they spotted what appeared to be a road rage incident between a red pickup, a Crown Victoria and a Lincoln around 1:30 a.m.

The other two vehicles took off, but the Lincoln pulled over. The Lincoln’s occupants told police there were men in the Crown Victoria wearing bandanas and waving guns.

HPD searched for the suspects and spotted the Crown Victoria parked nearby in front of the Nacho Car Audio located in the 100 block of West Dyna at Airline.

The officers said they caught five suspects red-handed, leaving the business with stolen merchandise.

Officers ordered the suspects to stop, but one of the suspects took off running. Officers fired several shots at him, but missed. The suspect jumped into the Crown Victoria and fled the scene.

The four remaining suspects still refused to surrender. Police said one of them appeared to be reaching for something inside his clothing so, fearing for his safety, an officer opened fire.

That suspect was shot and transported to Ben Taub Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not considered life-threatening. Police said he is 16 years old.

The other three eventually gave up, and the suspect in the Crown Victoria was captured a few blocks away.

All five suspects are now in custody. No weapons were recovered at the scene.
