Charges filed in officer-involved shooting
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Charges have been filed against four suspects arrested in an early Friday morning burglary during which a fifth teen was shot by an officer.
Story: Officer opens fire on burglary suspects
Albert De La Cruz, 19, Jose Guadalupe De La Cruz, 17, Joe Angel Rodriguez, 18, and Max Nieto, 20, are charged with burglary of a building in connection to the burglary of an audio store in the 180 block of West Dyna.
The fifth teen, a 16-year-old boy who was shot in the arm and leg by a Houston police officer, wasn't charged in the incident.
Detectives say officers patrolling the Greenspoint area interrupted a burglary in progress around 1am Friday at the store. While the suspects were getting arrested, the 16-year-old failed to heed officers' demands to show his hands and instead appeared to be reaching for a gun at his waist. One of the officers shot the teen in fear for his safety.
The teen was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was treated and released.
Per Houston Police Department protocol, an investigation into the shooting is underway.
