HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A SWAT standoff near a southwest Houston elementary school has ended.

SWAT teams had Foerster Elementary surrounded after a police chase ended on Fairmont and Fonmeadow. A burglary suspect was hiding in a wooded area, and shots were fired.

Police had the area surrounded, but they left about 5:30am when police say the armed suspect surrendered. He is being treated for a gunshot wound.

It all started with the burglary of a game room in the 10000 block of West Bellfort at around 2:45am. Police say the three suspects involved drove off, but were later spotted by an officer, and a chase ensued.

Police were able to arrest two of the suspects, but a third suspect who was armed took off on foot. Police gave chase and we're told shots were fired during the pursuit on foot.

Police say the suspect barricaded himself inside in or around a warehouse before eventually surrendering. We do not know his condition, but he did suffer a gunshot wound.

No one else was injured in the incident.
